Using the tDoc Assist Chat π¬
tDoc Assist provides a conversational interface where you can ask questions, request actions, and get information from your business's data. This guide covers how to use the chat, manage your conversations, and understand the different session types.
Quick Chat Panel π¨οΈ
The fastest way to use tDoc Assist is through the floating button:
- Click the Assist button in the bottom-right corner of any page
- A chat panel slides open on the right side of your screen
- Type your message in the input field and press Enter
- Assist responds with helpful information or takes action on your behalf
- Close the panel when you're done β your conversation is saved automatically
π‘ Tip: The quick chat panel lets you get answers without navigating away from what you're working on. It stays open as you browse different pages.
Full Page View π
For longer conversations or when you want to review past sessions:
- Click tDoc Assist in your team's sidebar navigation
- The full page shows an expanded chat area alongside a session history sidebar
- Browse and select past conversations from the sidebar
- Start new conversations or continue where you left off
Managing Sessions π
What Are Sessions?
Each conversation with tDoc Assist is a session. Sessions keep your conversations organized and let you pick up where you left off.
Starting a New Conversation
- In the quick chat panel, click the "New conversation" button at the top
- In the full page view, click "New conversation" in the session sidebar
- Your previous session is saved and you start fresh
Switching Between Sessions
- Open the session picker (in the quick chat panel) or the session sidebar (on the full page)
- Each session shows a title, the channel type (web or SMS), and when it was last active
- Click any session to load that conversation
π‘ Tip: Session titles are automatically generated based on the conversation content, making it easy to find past discussions.
Session Types π±
tDoc Assist handles two types of sessions, each shown with a badge in the session list:
Web Sessions π
- Created when you chat through the tDoc web app (floating button or full page)
- Full message history is displayed
- Sessions persist indefinitely β start a new one whenever you like
SMS Sessions π²
- Created when clients or contacts interact with your AI agent via text message
- These sessions appear in your Assist history so you can see what was discussed
- An amber banner indicates this is an SMS session
- For privacy compliance, sensitive information (such as phone numbers, emails, or identification numbers) may be automatically redacted and shown as [REDACTED]
π Privacy note: SMS sessions may contain sensitive information. Automatic redaction helps maintain privacy compliance (including HIPAA for healthcare teams) when viewing these conversations in the web interface.
Understanding Responses β¨
Normal Messages
Assist responses appear as chat bubbles in the conversation. They may include:
- Direct answers to your questions
- Summaries of data (appointments, tasks, contacts)
- Confirmations of actions taken (tasks created, notifications sent)
Error Messages
If something goes wrong, Assist displays the message with a subtle warning icon. These are informational β you can simply rephrase your request or try again.
What You Can Ask π―
Here are some examples of things you can ask tDoc Assist:
- "What appointments are scheduled for tomorrow?"
- "Look up the contact info for Jane Doe"
- "Create a follow-up task for the client who called this morning"
- "What tasks are currently in progress?"
- "Send a reminder SMS to the client about their appointment"
- "Show me the last 5 completed calls"
π‘ Tip: Be specific in your requests. Instead of "show me appointments," try "show me tomorrow's pending appointments for Sarah."
