Jane Integration (via Google Calendar sync)
Use tDoc's Google Calendar integration with Jane by syncing Jane and Google Calendar—no direct Jane API required.
📆 How Jane Works With tDoc
tDoc does not have a direct integration with Jane. Integration is achieved through Google Calendar:
- Jane ↔ Google Calendar: You connect Jane to Google Calendar (so Google events show in Jane as busy time, and optionally Jane appointments can appear in Google via subscribing to your calendar).
- Google Calendar ↔ tDoc: You connect that same Google Calendar to tDoc using tDoc’s Google Calendar integration.
Appointments then flow Jane ↔ Google Calendar ↔ tDoc. Your AI receptionist uses the same Google Calendar data, so it sees availability and bookings that reflect your Jane schedule.
Jane does not offer a single automatic 2-way sync with Google; it uses two separate 1-way syncs—connecting Google to Jane (below), and subscribing to your Jane calendar to get Jane appointments into Google. Both are needed if you want Jane appointments visible in tDoc and tDoc bookings visible in Jane.
🔄 Setting Up the Integration
Step 1: Connect Google Calendar to Jane (Google → Jane)
In Jane, connect your Google Calendar so that Google Calendar events (including those created by tDoc) block time in Jane and avoid double-booking.
- Go to the staff profile for the practitioner whose schedule you want to sync.
- Scroll down to the Calendars area.
- Click Connect to Google Calendar.
- A new tab opens—select and sign in with the Google Account you want to connect (you can connect only one Google account per staff profile in Jane).
- Back in Jane you should see the Google account name and a green Connected badge.
To change the account, click the red Disconnect button and repeat the steps to connect the correct account.
In Jane, Google Calendar events will show as Busy - Google Calendar Event and block those times from online booking. If double booking is enabled in Schedule Settings, staff can still book administratively over those times. Only busy blocks are visible in Jane—no event titles, descriptions, or guest info (for privacy). Events from your primary Google calendar from the past 30 days and up to 12 months in the future are synced; Jane typically updates within about a minute (you may need to refresh the page).
📚 Jane’s guide: Google Calendar Sync.
Step 1b (optional): Subscribe to Your Jane Calendar (Jane → Google)
To get Jane appointments into Google Calendar (and thus into tDoc), use Jane’s “Subscribing to your calendar” guide. That adds your Jane schedule to Google so tDoc can see your Jane bookings when you connect that Google Calendar in Step 2.
Step 2: Connect That Google Calendar to tDoc
In tDoc, connect the same Google Calendar using the built-in Google Calendar integration:
- Navigate to the Integrations section from your team account sidebar.
- Find the Google Calendar card and click Connect.
- Sign in with the same Google account used for Jane (or one that has access to the synced calendar).
- Grant access and select the calendar that Jane is syncing with (or that you subscribed to in Step 1b).
- Enable two-way sync so appointments booked by your AI receptionist are written to Google Calendar (and will show in Jane as busy blocks if Step 1 is set up).
📚 Full steps and options: Google Calendar integration.

✅ Once both sides are set up, Jane appointments (via calendar subscription) and Google events will be visible in tDoc, and bookings made through tDoc will appear in Google Calendar and in Jane as busy time.
📅 How Appointments Sync
- Jane → tDoc: Use “Subscribing to your calendar” so Jane appointments appear in Google Calendar; tDoc then reflects them via its Google Calendar sync. Your AI receptionist sees up-to-date availability.
- tDoc → Jane: When the AI receptionist books an appointment, tDoc creates an event in Google Calendar. With “Connect to Google Calendar” set up in Jane (Step 1), that event appears in Jane as Busy - Google Calendar Event and blocks that time.
- Cancellations and rescheduling: Handle them in Jane or in Google Calendar (or tDoc); keep the same calendar connected on both sides so changes propagate as each system syncs.
⚠️ Important: Jane syncs only the primary calendar of the connected Google account; one Google account per staff profile. Sync behavior also depends on tDoc’s Google Calendar configuration.
🤖 AI Receptionist Capabilities
Because the link is through Google Calendar, your AI receptionist can:
- Check availability using the same calendar that Jane syncs with (or that you subscribed to).
- Book new appointments (created as events in Google Calendar, which then show in Jane as busy time).
- Avoid double-booking when Jane appointments and Google events are present in that calendar.
Patient or practice-specific data (e.g. charts, intake forms) stays in Jane; tDoc only uses the calendar events from Google Calendar.
🧪 Testing the Flow
- Create a test appointment in Jane and (if you use calendar subscription) confirm it appears in Google Calendar, then in tDoc.
- Use your AI receptionist to book a test appointment and confirm the event appears in Google Calendar and in Jane as a busy block.
- Change or cancel an appointment in one system and verify the change propagates as expected.
🛠️ Troubleshooting
- Appointments from Jane not in tDoc: Ensure you’ve set up subscribing to your Jane calendar so Jane appears in Google, and that the correct calendar is connected in tDoc. See Google Calendar integration for tDoc-side settings.
- Bookings from tDoc not showing in Jane: Confirm “Connect to Google Calendar” is set up for the right staff profile in Jane and that you’re using the same Google account/calendar. Jane shows only the primary calendar; schedule in Jane may take about a minute to update (try refreshing).
- Wrong Google account in Jane: In the staff profile, click Disconnect and reconnect with the correct account.
